Volstead takes its name from The Volstead Act, co-written and sponsored by Congressman Andrew Volstead, who enacted Prohibition in the United States in 1919. Although the law was later repealed in 1933, the era left an indelible mark on history. As Best Atmosphere winner, the bar embraces prohibition-era style in downtown Jacksonville. It was created by young entrepreneurs who intend to influence and contribute to the revitalization of the city.
